Beginner Programs

ESL: English-as-a-Second-Language

For people who have little or no experience with the English language and want to learn basic English skills, manage everyday life better, and prepare to get a job. Students do not receive college credits for ESL basic classes. Students who complete ESL successfully can continue into credit ELS classes.

The ESL workshops below are not eligible for government financial assistance. Some courses are grant-funded and free, but eligibility is determined on a first-come, first-served basis.

Classes are available online and in-person, following all safety guidelines.

Basic Workshop

For students with no English language skills. Course covers speaking skills, vocabulary building, and sentence structure.

Foundations

For students with limited English skills. Improving speech, increasing vocabulary, and gaining confidence.

ELS Prep

For students who want to enter the academic program of English Language Studies, earn college credits, and obtain a college degree.

Intermediate & Advanced Programs

For people who already have basic English language fluency and want to improve their reading and writing skills in order to:

  • Get a better job or advance your career
  • Prepare to take college-level classes and earn a degree
  • Receive college credits that can be applied to a degree
  • Financial aid may be available
