Nursing Department Tests

The Testing Department administers certain tests on behalf of the Nursing Department at PCCC. We are located in M240, Memorial Hall on the Paterson campus. Some of the Tests include:

  • TEAS – Test of Essential Academic Skills (ATI Testing)
  • NACE I Foundations of Nursing Exam, Basic Nursing Care I and II ExamPsychiatric Mental Health ExamMaternity and Child Health Exam  – National League for Nursing (NLN)
  • HESI – Health Education Systems, Inc. (HESI)
TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills)

The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) exam will consist of the following 4 sections
Reading Assessment
Math Assessment
English and Language Usage Assessment
Science Assessment (not used for Admissions decision)

A CURRENT VALID PCCC PHOTO ID CARD MUST BE PRESENTED IN ORDER TO BE ADMITTED FOR TESTING. NO CALCULATORS ARE ALLOWED DURING TESTING.

To register for the TEAS  follow these steps:
1. Go to www.atitesting.com
2. On the right-hand side, on the lower portion of the home page, click on Register for TEAS
3. This will take you to a registration page and the question “Would you like to register for the TEAS” (appears in drop-down box). Click on NEXT
4. The next page will ask you to specify the State and City, select New Jersey and then Paterson, and then click NEXT
5. This will take you to the page with the testing sessions listed. Select a date and click on Register and follow the directions on the pages that follow.
6. You will pay the test fee online to complete your registration.
7. Remember to bring your current valid PCCC photo ID on the day of the test.

Both the Registration and Payment processes will be done online at www.atitesting.com. The exam will continue to be given in the PCCC Testing Department, Room M240 (Memorial Hall) in Paterson.

You will not be admitted unless you have made a prior registration, paid for that date, and presented a current valid PCCC Photo ID on the day of testing.

Once all testing for the exam session that day has been completed, test scores will be available online in your ATI account under Assessment Results. The TEAS SCORING FLYER below contains information that will assist in interpreting the scores once you view them online.

NACE I – NLN – (National League for Nursing) For the LPN to RN Mobility Program

Scheduling for this exam may ONLY be done by the student through the NLN web site: www.nlnonlinetesting.org

Students are expected to pay for the exam and select an available date ONLINE. Students should allow time before their preferred test date to schedule and pay for the exam. The NLN closes test dates as the date approaches.

2 forms of valid ID are required to gain entry into the Testing Room.

HESI – Elsevier

Scheduling is arranged through the Nursing Dept.

Standard time for this exam is 3 hours and 15 minutes. A bulit-in calculator is provided within the program, therefore no outside/hand-held calculators are allowed. Detailed info about the HESI, and a tutorial can can be found on their website.

2 forms of valid ID are required to gain entry into the Testing Room.
